Skin care lotions and creams - which form is best?

Skin care lotions and creams

There is no shortage of skin care creams and lotions on the market. Name a condition and you will find hundreds of creams, lotions and other skin care products. Thanks to ongoing research and ever-increasing demand, the number of skin care products seems to be growing. Skin care lotions and creams are the most popular forms in which these products are available, and there always seems to be a debate as to which form is best.

There is no definitive answer to this question. Rather, it is a matter of personal choice. However, greasy creams are certainly less popular than non-greasy (or less greasy) creams. Since the application of skincare creams is easier, they seem to be preferred (to lotions) in cases where the skincare product does not need to be removed immediately after application. Skin care creams therefore seem to be more popular as moisturizers than as cleansers or toners. For toners, lotions seem to be preferred over skin care creams. Some skin care creams also function as toners, but toners are generally available in liquid form only. For cleansing, lotions and skin care creams are equally popular, but lotions are preferred.

Creams are known for their effectiveness in keeping the skin moisturized; therefore, the most popular skin care creams are moisturizing creams. For the same reason, many people tend to associate skin care creams with dry, sensitive skin. While this is true to some extent, skincare creams are not only used for dry skin, they are also used to make products for oily skin, such as vitamin A creams and sulfur creams that help reduce the rate of oil production.

Skin care creams are also used for products to treat skin disorders, especially those that require the application of a product to a small localized area. This is because skin care creams are easier to apply (without waste) to the affected area. However, in cases where the skin needs to be washed with a medication/product, lotion is a better choice. Most of the time, manufacturers realize this, making it easier for you to choose between a lotion and a skin care cream.

Eye creams and anti-aging creams are other examples where skincare cream is preferred over lotion.

Whatever you choose (cream or lotion), knowing how to use it effectively is more important than anything.
